But when you have all these "professionals" surrounding you, you feel a sense of security, which perhaps, is false, because the one thing they are not telling you is that they are perfectly willing to help, as long as you ask the questions.
I just want to try to advise all the younger students out there who may feel incredibly frustrated, pissed off and lost, that you have a choice. You have control of the way your college career ends. You of course, have the choice to continue to feel frustrated, lost and victimized, but you also have the choice to advocate for yourself.
This is the point I'm trying to make: I don't want it to take as long for you as it did for me, as it does for many other students, to realize that you have to discover everything on your own. There are so many awesome resources on this campus, and in order to take advantage of the opportunities you want, it may take more than signing up for classes and getting good grades.
Sure, not all of the resources here are as great as the "professionals" say they are. Not all of them are even as great as they sound. If you don't stand up for yourself and get enough guts to ask questions about your future, no one is going to do it for you.
You don't want to end up like me; a fifth year student who had three majors, who didn't utilize career services, who didn't ask professors enough questions in class, who didn't really realize that this campus was meant to be used by me until my fourth year of college.
Yes, it's incredibly frustrating to realize that you are the only one who is looking out for you. But it's true, you run your own life, and the sooner you realize that and discover what makes you happy, the faster you'll realize how wonderful this campus really is and how happy you can really be.
When you are in high school, you have people telling you what to do, what classes to take, when to go to school, when to leave school and giving you grades you may not have actually earned.

Great advice Molly !Some people spend years trying to figure it out but afraid to ask a stupid question because they think they are supposed to already know the answer. (Continued…)
