Though the mood for this political season has been "change," several politicians around the country seem to have copied the actions of the flamboyant Clinton-Lewinsky saga regarding their own dirty little secrets. It is clear that membership in the "bad boys politics club" is growing.
Even though the Bill Clinton sex scandal was the mother of all dirty policital scandals to many of us, some of the latest political sex scandals seem to be giving Bill a run for his money.
A few months ago, the former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was on cloud nine, mandating the rich and elite dudes of Wall Street. Little did he know, the Patriot Act was about to unmask Client 9 of the Emporer's Club V.I.P., the high profile prostitution ring's Web site he was involved with.
The Patriot Act, which was passed in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks and which was originally meant to track terrorist actions, had actually ended up snagging Spitzer in a desperate attempt to transfer money in someone else's name to the prostitution ring's Web site.
After revealing to the world what Spitzer had been caught doing, he resigned and contracts worth millions were offered to Ashley Dupre, the governor's gal, from Penthouse and other sleazy magazines.
Although, the humorous aspect of this scandal came after David Paterson was sworn in as the next New York governor. He confessed on the very first day of taking office that, due to some marital problems a few years ago, both he and his wife got involved in affairs of their own.
Of course, what was truly gross about the whole thing was his confession that, for the purpose of rekindling the romance of their marraige, he took his wife to the same West Side Days Inn motel where he first took his ex-girlfriend.
And though one could acknowledge Paterson's honesty as a redeeming quality, I guess after a certain amount of information was revealed that honesty wasn't really appreciated.
