After two upset wins to end the Central Missouri Jennies' basketball regular season, the team's postseason run came to an end Thursday night inside Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City.
The Jennies fell to the Southwest Baptist Lady Bearcats 89-80 in the first round of the MIAA Postseason Tournament. With lost the Jennies finished its 2007-2008 season with a record of 14-14.
SBU shot the basketball well, shooting 57 percent while the Jennies just shot 39. Turnovers depleted the Jennies effort, as the team turned the ball over 16 times. The Lady Bearcats were able to stay in front of the Jennies for the entire second half. Twice, Central Missouri cut the lead to as small as four, but that was as close as the team came.
Senior guard Lindsey Maple led the Jennies in scoring with 20 points. She finished her four-year career with 1,545 points for seventh all time in UCM history.
Senior center Jojuana Jones also set a new record for most rebounds in a MIAA postseason tournament game with 21. Jones also scored 17 points.
Although the Jennies season came to an end, the team finished its regular season strong. After starting the conference season 0-6 to be in last place, the Jennies finished the season by winning nine of its last 12 games to finish the conference sixth with a MIAA record of 9-9.
