Although the origins of Valentine's Day are unclear, one thing that is about this holiday is the message it sends--love.

For centuries, people have been expressing their love through store-bought cards and flowers, all of which have become tired and unoriginal. This year, instead of showing your Valentine you care through a factory made card or a plant waiting to die, make them feel special by looking your best.

Do not forget this is Valentine's Day, you have to step it up a notch. Gentlemen, this includes you! There are a few essentials needed to make a sensual V-Day look complete. Some of the most attracting qualities in an individual are not just what you wear, but hair, smile, smell, and last but not least, shoes!

Some are surprised at what turns your lover on, but this first one is a no-brainer. Nothing is sexier than a well-groomed gent or lady. Before your special night, pay special attention as you shower and dress.

Your preparation begins in the shower. As you're cleaning up, pay extra attention to your hair and skin.

Start by using a deep conditioner to make your hair feel sensually soft. Leave this in as you complete your next steps.

Next, exfoliate away any dead or dry skin cells with a loofah. Make sure to pay close attention to fingernails and the bottoms of your feet. You don't want your honey to offer a sensual foot massage and not know what's in store.

Then, use a new razor for an extra close, clean shave. Save your hair for last, and rinse with cold water. The cold water closes the hair shaft, making it look soft and sleek. Rinsing the hair last also allows the deep conditioner to take full effect.

The next step is possibly the most important. Immediately after getting out of the shower, brush your hair to prevent tangles and moisturize.

Smell is one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs for humans, and we attach memories and emotions to them. For decades, psychologists have been aware of the ability for humans to create taste and smell aversions. Well equally so, we can also create smell and taste attractions.

After you are dressed, double check to make sure there are no wrinkles or creases. Next, begin to work on your hair. Gentelmen, this may be more limited for you. Ladies, if using a hair dryer, curlers, or straightener, put it on the lowest setting. This will keep your hair soft.

Finally, the most important tip to looking your best is a gorgeous smile.
