The results are in from Super Tuesday, and we are pleased to see that our fellow young voters participated.

KSDK-TV in St. Louis said, there were about 190,000 Missouri voters under the age of 30 that cast ballots Tuesday. They also reported that the number tripled from the 2000 election.

But why is this election of particular interest to young voters? We're willing to bet that it isn't in rememberance of P. Diddy's 2004 campaign "Vote or Die," which targeted the demographic. However, we are willing to guess that voters were intrigued by the historical aspect of this race.

Having candidates other than old white guys-although '08 has its share of those, too-this election is all about fresh ideas, fresh faces and a change-for-the-better attitude. Finally, candidates who illustrate a miniscule part of our country's diversity.

Regardless of motivation, we applaud young voters for doing their civic duty and putting their money where their mouth is. It is a monumental, not to mention long over-do, election in which we are postively lucky to have the opportunity to participate.
