Our View: Matt Blunt just Dissapointing in General
Issue date: 1/24/08 Section: Opinion
Quitters are typically viewed by society as lazy. We tend to view them that way because a pure lack of motivation and perseverance is, often, not only surprising, it's sad. Although this profile cannot be said of all quitters, some fit the bill perfectly.
Gov. Matt Blunt decided Tuesday he will not be running for re-election. He has stated he has accomplished everything he set out to do. That's nice. Since he's done, maybe he could come help us with our homework.
Blunt must believe that because he has checked off his list, Missouri is perfect. The last time I checked, eggs benedict was pretty perfect, too, but the more hollandaise it has, the better. Even though Blunt said he has finished, isn't there always something more that could be done?
Although there is something to be said for a politician that actually accomplishes their goals, it is another to have one say they are leaving office because there is nothing else to fix. Maybe his list was just too short. Maybe he purposefully set out to be done early.
The problem, essentially, is the surprise and sense of abandonment with which he has left Missouri citizens. How are we supposed to look up to someone who tells us they are finished improving our state when clearly, there is much more to be done?

he has done what HE wanted to do. yes, the state could use some more work, but since i never wanted him as govenor in the first place, this would be the PERFECT time to get someone in here who really wants to to work for the PEOPLE OF MISSOURI, not just accomplish THEIR agenda. (Continued…)
