MLB rejects Bonds' deal

Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig rejected Barry Bonds' 1-year $15.8 million agreement with the San Francisco Giants because of a personal-appearance clause. But that isn't the only controversy.
The contract states if Bonds is indicted for a criminal act, the team has the right to terminate the contract. Bonds' agent, Jeff Borris, said the terms in the contract are uninforceable.
The team is drafting a new contract and is expected to express mail it for Bonds and his agent to review and sign.

Steadman calls it a career

Former Kansas City Chiefs general manager Jack Steadman, has decided to retire after a 47-year career with the team.
Steadman was late owner Lamar Hunt's right-hand man throughout Steadman's career. Steadman was the general manager during the club's only Super Bowl championship and helped the franchise win a total of four championships.
Steadman was serving as vice-chairman of the Chiefs when he announced his retirement.

Super Dollars

According to Forbes' magazine, the Superbowl is the world's most valuable sporting events brand, and the competition wasn't close.
The report concluded that the Super Bowl brand was worth $379 million, while the next closest was the Summer Olympics worth $176 million and the soccer World Cup worth $103 million.
Super Bowl XLI between the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears is set to kick off Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in Miami.

Wrestling Herpes

A Nebraska wrestler is being eyed as the source of a herpes ourbreak in Minnesota that has lead high school officials to suspend wrestling competitions and contact practices for eight days.
Officials believe they have tracked the lesion-causing disease to a high-school wrestler in Nebraska.
At least 24 cases of herpes simplex Type 1 have been reported in Minnesota by 10 different teams.

MIAA tickets on sale

Tickets for the 2006-07 MIAA Basketball Championships are now on sale. The first round of the championship bracket will be Thursday March 1 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
The Mules are in sole possession of first place in the MIAA while the Jennies sit at fifth.
Tickets can be purchased at the UCM Athletic Ticket Office in Room 101 of the Multipurpose Building.
