Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,
When I was in my third year at CMSU in 1993, I sat and listened to a professor belittle the class because we were not enthusiastic enough about ancient world literature. He criticized us for being students at a "regional state school."
He completely missed the irony of being a Duke University educated professor who, apparently, couldn't find a better position than at the same "regional state school."
When I read my alumni letter that attempted to justify the name change, I was struck by the statement made that the school is trying to reflect the superior world class education it confers.
I could argue the merits of that statement all day long being that I was accepted to the school based on the fact I had a pulse and a high school diploma.
However, if that is the goal, why does the name still reflect the fact that it is just a "regional state school" since all that was done was remove one word and shuffle what was left?
Sincerely,

Dear Editor,
I have to say I am very disappointed with the ice clean-up the University has done.
The sidewalks and walkways are still very slick, and what's worse is that not only did they fail to do a decent clean-up job, they also decided to let the bags that once held the ice melter blow in the breeze.
Just this morning, I counted five empty bags used by the University to clean up the ice.
I have a lot of pride in my school, and I would hope the people who work here have some respect for that as well. To leave trash around and not pick it up at all is just sad.
Someone should let the Warrensburg police know. Maybe the school will get fined and not do that again. How sad.
Sincerely,
Zachary Weber
