Summer Scholars Program
The Office of Undergraduate Research is funding five students in the 2007 Summer Scholars Program. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply for this summer research experience. For 10 weeks from May 14 through June 20, students will conduct research or develop creative works while working under the guidance of faculty mentors. The deadline for all application materials is Feb. 9. Awards will be announced March 1.
New Religious Studies Class
The Center for Religious Studies has finalized its list of speakers for the "New Religions" class Jan. 26 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Lovinger 1290. Jehovah's witnesses Steve Hillen is the guest speaker Jan. 30. For more information, contact Marla Selvidge at 543-8674.
Central Scholars Symposium
UCM students are encouraged to participate in the 6th annual Central Scholars Symposium. The scholarship is open to all students engaged in research or development of creative projects. Applications and abstracts must be received by March 2. The scholars will be recognized at an awards luncheon April 11.
Health Center flu shot
The Health Center's immunization clinic still has the flu vaccine available. To get a flu shot, visit the Health Center Thursday Jan. 25 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. For more information, contact Rebecca Steckel at 543-4779.
Friday Research Talk
The Psychology Department will host "Developments in Categorization and Prototype Abstraction," Friday Jan. 26 at 3:30 p.m. The research talk will be presented by Patrick Ament, Darcy Robbins and Callie Brockman.
TRIO Tutoring
The TRIO Student Support Services is offering free tutoring in math, science, Spanish and social science. Tutoring is available Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Humphreys 115. To receive tutoring, you must be either a first-generation college student, low income or a college student with a disability.
