The CD is available to those who either make a pledge to the station or sign up for membership.
"Live Volume 1" contains tracks from Los Lonely Boys, Gomez, Keller Williams, Pete Yorn, The Fray, Ben Taylor, etc. The tracks contained on the CD were donated to The Bridge to help a new fund-raising project to support public radio.
"The strength of the format is in the depth and breadth of the new music we play," said Jon Hart, station program coordinator. "Our commitment to new music, rare in the current media environment, is the reason these artists have donated their performances for this disc."
The CD itself is put together quite well. It flows smoothly from track to track, giving the listener a taste of what the station has to offer (which from the CD is quite eclectic) to those who tune in. The compilation is also surprisingly professional. The sound quality of the tracks is great, and along with the aforementioned flow, the CD has a feel that a big company produced it. The CD itself was mastered by Gavin Lurssen, who won a Grammy for his work on the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack, which helps to give the album its professional appeal.
One of the best things, however, is the CD's cover art. Created by Patrick McDonnell, the mind behind the comic strip "Mutts," which is published in 700 newspapers in 20 some odd countries, the CD cover features McDonnell's "Mutts" walking across the street a la "Abbey Road" Beatles cover. McDonnell, who has won numerous awards for his cartoons, donated this artwork to the project.
Whether it be track selection, sound quality, cover art or graphic design, "Live Volume 1" is a CD of high quality that could easily be sold in stores and would probably do quite well.
