Fearless Fridays
The Counseling and Psychological Services will have a free drop-in educational/support groups for students experiencing stress from test anxiety. The group meets the first Friday of every month during the semester from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in Humphreys 131.
Summit Center open house
UCM invites the public to view the newly 40,000-square foot facility at the Summit Technology campus, 850 N.W. Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, Mo. The Office of Alumni Relations will host an open house Friday Jan. 26, from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for faculty, staff and students to view the facility.
Hearing evaluations
The Department of Communication Disorders is offering hearing evaluations at the Welch-Schmidt Center for Communication Disorders at no cost to faculty, staff and students. Appointments usually take less than one hour. To set up an appointment, call the department at 543-4993, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Powell Gardens Winter Birds and Landscape Hike
Powell Gardens naturalist Alan Branhagen will take visitors on a winter hike in search of birds and other on the Byron Shutz Hiking and Nature Trail Jan. 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The session is $15 a person and $9 for a friend.
Education Day
UCM students that have an interested in education will have the opportunity to learn more about the educational programs during Education Day Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will take a tour of the campus and learn more about the education programs at UCM. For more information, contact Angela Wohldmann at 543-4673.
Campus and community leaders recognized
UCM joined the Greater Warrensburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center in a presentation of the 2007 Community Service Awards at the chamber's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Wednesday Jan. 10. Beth Rutt received the Leadership Award for her support of UCM's Community Engagement initiatives, and Associate Professor of History Delia Gillis received the Robbie Robinson Service Award.
