Mo's Maniacs, the Athletic Department's youth booster club, not only provides entertainment for your kids, but can also help you save money.

Parents who are looking to involve their kids in fun activities for a reasonable cost can consider Mo's Maniacs.

Kids 14 and under can join the group and receive free admission to all regular season Central Missouri athletic events.
Keondria McClish, a graduate assistant, handles the sign-ups at registration headquarters, located in Room 101 of the Multipurpose Building.

"The kids are offered one item for the $15 membership, or they can get two items for $20 and all three items for $25," McClish said. Items to choose from include a T-shirt, hat and bag, depending on their membership pledge. The T-shirt and bag have the new logo printed on them.

Along with the main items, all kids will receive a membership card, coupons, a free small drink at every sports event and a general admission ticket to every event.

Terry Cunconan, chair of the Department of Communication, said his three kids are active members of Mo's Maniacs: Mackenzie, 9, Cale, 7, and Maci, 5.

"It encourages young kids to get involved in sports," Cunconan said. His oldest child, Mackenzie, is in her fourth year with the club.

Mo's Maniacs has grown considerably since its inception in 2000.

"In 2000, about 70 kids were involved, and last year, there were over 190 participants," said Bob Jackson, athletic promotion coordinator.

Jackson's face brightens as he talks about the program's success. The program operates a little differently than it first did, with kids tailing the football team as it rushed onto the field for a home game.

"That became a safety concern, and now they sit with their parents," Jackson said. "The program owes its success to word-of-mouth about the program, but it is also promoted in local elementary schools."

One elementary teacher bought a membership for every child in her class.
