After a rocky start for the jurors during the opening statements last week, prosecution for the UCM music professor's murder trial has been busy calling expert witnesses.
Thursday, a DNA analyst for the prosecution acknowledged peers from other labs might disagree with his findings.
Ross Capps, a forensic chemist for the Johnson County Crime lab testified he found a mixture of at least two individuals' DNA under victim William J. Jennings' fingernails.
Professor David Lee Stagg, 58, is accused of killing Jennings, his former lover, after a dispute in April.
The defense argued last month in a motion to dismiss that the amount of DNA found was too small to identify the second individual, but large enough to establish that it does not match Stagg's DNA.
A suicide note was found on Jennings' computer, but an expert testified Monday that the note was created and saved using methods Jennings did not usually use. The prosecution contends Stagg forged the note.
According to notes retrieved from the computer, Jennings had thought about committing suicide many times.
Additional information on the trial proceeding Wednesday were not available at the time of publication.
