Sometimes we like to use computers for other reasons than typing papers or using the Internet to find information. There aren't many options for Internet usage except for libraries, unless you have your own computer. This is a place to go where you can have fun without worrying about distracting someone else from business that's important.
Owning a computer is not in every student's budget, but now there is an alternative. Dynasty Gaming and Internet Cafe, is located next to Subway on Maguire Street, has changed Warrensburg cyber scene with adding a laid-back feel to Internet usage. Now Internet users can enjoy different coffee varieties, interaction with Internet users and food.
The foods it serves include: hamburgers, nachos and honey buns, to name a few. As for coffee, they make almost every combination under the sun.
"I'm a big gamer, and if they have all the new games that are out and have a comfortable place to play, then it is worth me spending my money there. Plus, $5 an hour, you can't beat that," said UCM student Joseph Clark.
Not only does the store provide the Internet, but it also has a gaming area. They buy the newest and hottest games for customers to play, including Dead Rising, Madden '07 and Halo 2, to name a few.
"We constantly upgrade our catalog of games," said manager Josh Car.
The way they charge for video game usage is $5 per hour to rent a controller and game. The cafe also has specials like $15 to rent a controller and game from open to close. The gaming systems include X-Box 360 and Sony Playstation 2, which they have connected to big screen TVs, with lounge couches.
When it comes to Internet usage, they're a little more loose with there restrictions because many people aren't there to study; they are there to use the Internet and have fun. They price computer usage the same as gaming, $5 per hour. They have 10 computers for customer usage.
"I think this is a good idea; I know I would go," said UMC Jason Smith. "I don't have Internet access at home, and I get tired of being in the library all the time using the computer. This is a good change of scenery."
Dynasty Internet Cafe seems to be a little different from others when it comes to their target audience.
"We try to appeal to people who appreciate good gaming or good coffee," said Car.
If you're looking for somewhere to host a party, no need to worry because Dynasty has that, too. They rent out the store for parties and special events. The pricing is a little cheaper, and they provide food and drinks for the event.
As far as their open hours, they consist of early mornings and late nights. If you're game, Dynasty is open almost all hours of the day.
"We're open from 9 a.m. to about 2 a.m.," said Car.
