A UCM music professor's trial began Monday, but shortly after beginning, the court recessed after a female juror was seen slumped over.
Professor David Stagg, 58 is on trial for the death of William J. Jennings, 51 of Shawnee, Kan., who was his romantic partner.
According to the Kansas City Star, Assistant District Attorney Scott Toth had begun his opening statement when the courtroom noticed a female juror in the front had slumped over. She had passed out.
The court went to recess. Judge John Anderson III reported the juror was fine and that she had fainted from the description of the large amounts of blood found at the scene.
The juror said she had only fainted once before - when she saw blood in a high school biology class.
Anderson excused the juror from the trial, saying she would probably not make it through the remainder of the trial.
The trial was rescheduled for Tuesday, and no further details were available at the time of publication.
