As the 2005-2006 sports editor of the Muleskinner, I have had the pleasure of working next to great people in the office and around the athletic department.
These people have made the experience wonderful and made the transition easy from being a regular student at Central to someone involved in the Central community. Without these great people, my time at Central wouldn't have been the same.
Coaches, players and staff writers have been great all year. They have made time in their busy schedules to help propel the sports section of the Muleskinner to the level it now sits.
Writing the way
I appreciate all the hard work the writers have put in to cover each sport to the top of their ability. Every sport deserves coverage, and without great people writing the stories, that wouldn't be possible.
Nick Schimmer has been a vital part to the sports section. He has volunteered his time to make sure many of the Jennies' sports teams received ample coverage. In the fall, Schimmer covered Jennies' bowling and volleyball. He also went to the men's side to bring our readership Mules' golf.
When winter and spring sports began, Schimmer switched his attention to the Jennies' basketball and softball teams, and continued to pay close attention to the bowlers.
As the season progressed, Matt Twillman took over the Jennies' basketball and bowling teams, and did a great job of bringing coverage to those sports.
Michael Jeffries has been an asset to the Muleskinner sports staff. He made sure all the runners, jumpers and throwers on the Mules' and Jennies' cross country and track and field teams made their way into the sports section each week.
As the Mules' golf season moved along this spring, Ryan Gibbs took over, capturing every swing.
Without the help of these guys, my job would have been much more difficult.
Strong support
Every coach, along with the people behind the scenes in the athletic department, has been great this year and more than accommodating to the Muleskinner staff.
