T. Rawleigh Gaines died Jan. 29. He received his bachelor's degree from Central in 1946 and returned in 1949 as an instructor of industrial arts.
During his 37-year professional career at Central, Gaines was promoted through the ranks and became dean of the college of Applied Sciences and Technology in 1969. He held that position until his retirement in 1986.
The T.R. Gaines Building was named for Gaines in 1987.
