Amanda C. Rohlman, a spring 2005 graduate of Central, died as a result of an automobile accident in DeKalb, Ill.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's office, Rohlman was driving about a quarter-mile east of Peace Road on Dec. 15 around 11:30 p.m. when her vehicle slid into the eastbound lane. An eastbound car struck Rohlman's car on the driver's side and pushed it into the ditch, police said.

Both drivers were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

Rohlman died on Dec. 16, shortly after arriving at the hospital. The other driver was treated for minor injuries and released.

Sheriff Roger Scott said the only contributing factor was the weather.

"Amanda Rohlman was a fun-loving, thoughtful, caring, devoted, talented, forgiving, patient, competitive, passionate and wonderful sister and friend," said friend Amanda Atkins. "Our lives will forever be touched by this one-of-a-kind person."

Atkins said Rohlman was a very active member of Delta Zeta, playing in lots of intramurals including football, volleyball and tug-of-war. Rohlman was Delta Zeta's 2005 Greek goddess candidate. She served as recruitment counselor and was a Panhellenic Judicial Review Board member.

She was an office assistant in the sociology and social work department for two years.

Rohlman recently returned from an internship in London, England with London Sport Magazine.

"Words could never describe what an amazing person Amanda was. She was loved by everyone that knew her," said friend Katie Bruno. "Amanda loved Central and the many friends she made in her four years here. The time she was put on this earth was not long enough, but her memories will last a lifetime."

According to Bruno, a memorial service will be held at Central, but the date has not been set.
