When one walks into Goody's, he is transported back in time to a 1950's-style diner. The space comes complete with a big checkered floor, a malt shop counter, big, deep vinyl booths and gleaming chrome-accented chairs and tables. All serve as backdrops to the kind of food one would expect to find there.
It is a great place to take a few friends; there is nothing on the menu that you will not want to try.
A steakburger topped with bacon, cheese and all the fixings was the choice for Andrea Register, a Central student. She declared the burger, "One of the best she had eaten in a long time."
Shay Dulle, another Central student, had a grilled chicken salad swimming in ranch dressing. Being a carbohydrate hater, Shay said his salad was, "crispy and delicious with pickles -what an interesting twist."
Central student C.J McKinney's favorite was the bread pudding, not caring too much for the cherry cobbler.
The best deal, however, is without a doubt the delicious $1 shake. The shakes come in assorted flavors and are made to accompany the kind of food one might expect to be served in plastic baskets, lined with tissue paper.
"This cute spot would make a great place for a first date," said Andre Register, a Central student. "It's not threatening in here like some fancy place that just makes you uncomfortable."
During the week, there are specials on certain foods. For about $7 dollars, one can get meatloaf on Sunday, chicken fried steaks on Monday and chicken pot pie on Tuesday.
Terry Goodman and his wife Dana, who works for Hiland Dairy, have given the residents of Warrensburg and the students of Central a casual place to go for a shake and some food at a great price. All the while, the Goodman's are providing an atmosphere of fun, reminiscent to places such as Chuby's, Winstead's and Steak-n-Shake. For a welcomed reminder of home, Goody's is a place to go.
Goody's is located in the Sante Fe Trails shopping center, east of 13 Highway off Young Road.
