Central's Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and Development launched a Web site Oct. 24 with the intention of providing a condensed source of information to its clients about their services and capabilities.
Joseph Mullins, marketing manager at the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBDTC) at Central, designed the Web site. He said it will serve as an all-inclusive spot for current and future clients to be able to access information concerning the services offered by the SBTDC.
"We wanted to present a single source for customers and clients by lumping all our sources and capabilities into one neat presentation," Mullins said. "The idea is to create a mini portal for the business communities in the Warrensburg area."
The Web site, www.cmsu.edu/biz, is constructed as a sort of business presentation card on which clients can access information about the training classes offered by the SBTDC.
Mullins said the top objective when designing the site was to make it easy to surf, compressing as much information about the SBTDC as possible.
"A good chunk of our clients are unrelated to Central, so they are not familiar with the University's Web site," Mullins said.
While Mullins is satisfied with the site, in the future he and the rest of his team would like to make the site more interactive, enabling the users and clients to network and communicate with each other.
Shirley Krzesinski, an office professional at the Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, is in charge of updating the site and organizing the information made available to clients and customers.
"We have over 200 clients, so it is important to keep them up-to-date with the events we sponsor," Krzesinski said. "I will be updating the site approximately on a monthly basis, as well as the calendar that marks training sessions and events as often as necessary."
The Institute's Web site defines the SBTDC's purpose as, "...[to link Central's] federal, state and private resources to counsel and train owners and managers, and assist new and existing small business firms to become more productive and profitable."
Don Davis, manager at the institute, said the site allows clients to find all the information they need in one area, without having to work very hard to attain it.
"The purpose of this site is to be concise and to concentrate all the info about the institute and center in one spot," Davis said. "The site is a great idea, and it's definitely [Joe Mullins's] baby."
The Web site offers information about the events and training offered by the SBTDC in the form of a calendar, as well as a list of products and services provided to clients.
