Coinciding with the release of "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" on DVD, Pandemic Studios released "Star Wars Battlefront 2," their sequel to last year's multi-platform video game. Pandemic Studios, creators of the Army's command simulator, "Full-Spectrum Warrior," brings a revised version of "Battlefront" with plenty new features worthy of a Star Wars sequel.

Like its predecessor, "Battlefront 2" is a fast-paced, first-person shooter of epic scale set in the Star Wars universe. The game has the player taking control as one of the grunt troops during the movies, but unlike the previous game, it lets them eventually take control of those "oh-so-nifty" Jedi. From battles in space, to vehicular combat on ground, to light saber-swinging Jedi, this game has a lot to offer.

The game's single-player mode takes a backseat to the multi-player action, but it still has some impressive features. The basic campaign mode follows the career of a squad of Clone Troopers, who gradually transition to fighting for the Jedi and the Republic to battling the heroic Rebel Alliance as Imperial Stormtroopers under the command of everyone's favorite bad guy, Darth Vader.

The Galactic Campaign mode puts a strategic twist on the first-person action. In this mode, you battle across the galaxy, capturing planets and using them as resources to further your domination of the universe. Between these and an "instant action" mode, there is a lot of replay value to be had.

The multi-player aspect of the game is where it shines. Whether with a group of friends or online, you will be replaying your favorite Star Wars movie moments, like the climactic battle of "Attack of the Clones," the way you and your comrades see fit.

There are a multitude of game modes to choose. From basic capture the flag to conquest, where you capture different command points on a map similar to "Unreal Tournament 2k4," to "Hunt," where you cleanse planets of their indigenous species (Jawas, Ewoks, all the annoying side-characters). Be warned. You may experience an unexpected geeky sense of glee storming the snowy fields of Hoth in your snow speeder with your best friend riding shotgun. It's the familiar locales and scenarios that may or may not make this the best game for you.
