Hazing is a growing concern among college administrators around the country.

The number of students fatally injured due to hazing activities has increased over the past five years.

Matthew Carrington, of California State University, died of heart failure caused by water intoxication after he and another pledge were ordered to drink water from five-gallon jugs and douse themselves as fans blasted them with cold air.

Four men of Chi Tau fraternity of California State are facing potential life sentences if charged with torture.

Although hazing is mostly associated with athletes and Greeks, several other organizations have adopted hazing as a means of teaching precedence and loyalty.

At Harvard University, several upperclassmen were fined for hazing the freshmen.

Since hazing is a long standing tradition that continues to surface in academic and professional atmospheres, it can be assumed that this will continue to be a concern.

As an individual, you must consider the dangers that are involved if you choose to take part in activities that could be classified as hazing.

Any organization that asks you to subject yourself to pain and humiliation in order to prove your loyalty does not have respect for you.
