Sonia M. Galindo, 25, Warrensburg, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Alexander Gladkov, 23, Kansas City. Galindo is being held at $250,000 bond in Jackson County.
Galindo appeared in court Saturday, and a judge entered a routine not-guilty plea for her.
According to court records, Galindo staked out Gladkov's loft at 127 W. 10th St. Friday morning. A neighbor saw Galindo in the fetal position in the building's lobby at 7:30 a.m. Gladkov came to the lobby 30 minutes later. A surveillance camera recorded Gladkov's reaction.
"The victim is observed to back up and duck and take off running," court records say.
At least five witnesses told police they saw Galindo chasing Gladkov out of the lobby and across the street while shooting at him. After Gladkov collapsed on a sidewalk in front of a parking garage, witnesses told police Galindo stood over him and fired two more shots.
Galindo was still there when police arrived. An ambulance took Gladkov to a hospital, where he died.
Gladkov attended Central on a student visa from Russia. He graduated with a business administration degree in May 2005 and had been working at the accounting firm Ernst & Young at 12th and Main streets since June.
John A. Picerno, Galindo's attorney, told the Kansas City Star the couple had dated for six to eight months, but had broken up two to three weeks ago.
"On Saturday, Picerno said his client recently had been suffering from serious mental problems, some stemming from medical problems, including a miscarriage," the Kansas City Star reported.
