I read in the Muleskinner on Aug 28 the story about highlighting only two schools in a great football confrence only hurts the ones in the dark. For years no one in the Kansas City area ever heard a word from the MIAA becasue the major D-I confernece was always the headline. That focus had changes slightly due to the fact that a MIAA football team has forced the spotlight to show the MIAA. At this point in time every year, a pre-season poll appears with Northwest Missouri and Pittsburg State atop with Central, Western, Washburn and the other teams in the MIAA. You might say I have an intersting viewpoint on this situation. I was a student at Northwest a few years before they won there two national titles, and its nice to be able to see another team I support doing almost the exact thing. I saw a sense of pride greater than ever on Homecomming 2001 when on that day our beloved Mules shocked the Bearcats and proved that Central means business on the football field. It's that kind of spirit that will help propell the Mules into the spotlight they have worked hard for and so rightly deserve.
