I understand why many students choose to live on campus: there is flexibility and freedom from a 12-month lease, the dorms are often closer to campus buildings than off-campus housing and it makes life easier for students who may not live close enough to drive home over school breaks.…

Virginia Tech Shootings Bring Up Social Questions
Early Monday morning, a shooter opened fire killing two people. Two hours later, police believe the same shooter opened fire across campus killing themselves and 32 other students. This was the most deadly school shooting in U.S. history.
The latest school shooting at Virginia Tech makes me think about how we are missing something very profound.…

Smoking Ban Raises More Important Health Concerns
I, for one, am glad to see we have achieved our much-sought-after goal of eliminating smoking from our campus. Much progress has been made in banning such abhorrent behavior in public establishments, but why stop there? Smoke cannot penetrate the many layers of the atmosphere, can it? Will we not all eventually suffocate in the confines of the outdoors at the nicotine-stained hands of these vile subhumans? What they are doing to our environment, not to mention our lungs, is inexcusable and unforgivable.…
